Mathias Nordby, born 15 July 1991 in Hamar, is a Norwegian artist and designer with the stage name Ma$arati. After two years at Granum Art School, Masarati has worked as an artist full-time. Through paintings, drawings, clothing designs and tattoos, he creates works characterized by strong colours, powerful strokes and lines.
Ma$arati's distinctive style is inspired by hip hop and rap culture as well as street art and is often executed in large formats. The style is attracting attention both nationally and internationally. He already has a significant clientele consisting of trendsetters and heavyweights in hip-hop and pop culture, such as Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Roy Woods, Yung Lean, Trippy Red, Faze Clan, Silvana Iman and in Norway Unge Ferrari/Stig Brenner and Arif.
A recurring motif is animals, often strongly caricatured or abstracted. Horses, birds, cats and exotic animals are recreated in his distinctive, naïve style.
