The artist elsewhere

Tommy Johansson (b. 1975) from Kristiansand is the artist behind a dynamic body of contemporary work that fuses traditional media with modern expression. He began his formal art studies at Keith Gavigan Kunstskole in Kristiansand (1999–2000), further refining his skills at Strykejernet Kunstskole in Oslo (2003–2004) and culminating at Kunstakademiet at Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo (2004–2007).

Tommy’s career took off through a series of compelling exhibitions. Early group shows across Norway showcased his innovative use of mixed media, while solo exhibitions such as “The Anachronicles of The Present” (2015, Galleri LNM, Oslo) and “Til Mnemosyne” (2014, Grünerløkka Kunsthall, Oslo) highlighted his distinctive visual language. His curatorial projects—like the collaborative exhibition “Not Today, Satan!” (2022, Bærum Kunsthall) and group shows such as “Guilt By Association” (2018, Bærum Kunsthall)—further amplified his reputation within the art community.

For his projects, Tommy has joined forces with prominent institutions and companies, including Statoil, and Stokke AS, integrating commissioned work with his personal artistic vision. His practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation art, all marked by a refined interplay of color, form, and conceptual depth.
